PSM Studio, LLC started because of a need for functional furniture and case designs that I simply couldn't find anywhere in the world. My philosophy has always been to surround myself with beautiful, functional and efficient tools and environments so that I can focus on projects without being distracted by clutter or unnecessary obstacles.
In January of 2020 I left a full time position with a local Tampa company as a director of development. I've been a programmer and I.T. professional for the past 25 years and have had roles ranging from front-end developer all the way up to Chief Technology Officer and decided to take the opportunity to explore the possibility of returning to my original passion, creating beautiful works of art and design with my hands. If you'd like to know more about that part of the story you can read the entire journey here.
In my transition to creative expressiveness and how to get my creations into the hands of the public one of my first research projects was to look into getting out to Art and Craft shows around my home state here in Florida. So I began researching what I would need to have in place in order to position myself as a serious and respected artist and craftsman. So I purchased a booth and a set of tables and the tools that I would need to become portable so that I could travel around to the different events around Florida. While working on all of this I needed to create something portable to transport my illustrations and paintings and started thinking through what I would need so that I could work while on the road. So using a common design that I've created a few times I decided to create a case that would be both functional for transportation and could also double as a work surface for continuing to work on my illustrations. This is what I came up with...
This design led me to creating a couple of other pieces since I had the space setup on my back porch and already had the tools and materials in my posession to go ahead and created a couple of pieces of furniture that I've always wanted, but simply didn't have the time to create, and either couldn't find in the stores or I didn't want to pay as much as stores wanted for the poor quality they were offering. So I went ahead and started with the following designs, and decided that enough people would probably enjoy these in their own homes. So I registered this LLC and decided to go ahead and make these pieces available for sale. So if you'd like to see any of the additional pieces in my current library I will try to keep the designs and availability up to date here on my site.
If you don't see in my inventory anything that will solve your own needs and/or desires in regard to wood furniture or functional pieces, please reach out. I'd be happy to explore some creativity with you! I am now in a position to be able to create anything you can immagine.
